Which plants is GT Complete Focus for?
This is your 'one and done' all-rounder for indoor and outdoor plants. A complete, balanced fertiliser for a 'mixed jungle' when you want the simplicity of one fertiliser for everyone. No fuss. Job done. This formula maintains a balance between foliage and flowering. For all your indoor plants including Peace Lily, Begonia, Anthurium, Alocasia and more (even calcium-lovers like Peperomia, Orchids and African Violets).
Who are GT?
Growth Technology are known in the industry as GT. The clever chaps behind world-famous Clonex (marketed here Yates). Lucky for us, GT created a specialist crop-specific nutrient range called GT Focus, each tailored to match a plant's specific nutrient needs. Although every GT formula is different, there are some things that stay the same...
Calcium
Calcium is essential, yet most fertilisers don't include it. Common signs of a calcium deficiency include cracked, split, cupping or curling leaves; slow, stunted or deformed growth, and buds that fall off before plants flower (such as bud blast in Orchids and Hoyas). All GT formulas include calcium, immediately available to plants. No guesswork needed with supplements. No human foods to attract Fungus Gnats or take ages to break down.
Free of Urea
The most common nitrogen source used in outdoor and indoor plant fertilisers, but urea is more difficult for indoor plants in soil-less potting mixes to convert into the life-giving nitrogen they need. Excess urea can accumulate in potted plants, increasing the risk of fertiliser burn. All GT formulas are guaranteed urea free.
No Chlorides
The highest salt index common ingredient used in most fertilisers, increasing the risk of fertiliser burn. Excess can cause scorched leaf edges, smaller leaves and slow or stunted growth. All GT formulas are guaranteed chloride free.
Complete + Balanced
Most fertilisers provide NPK only. Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). 'The Big 3' plants need the most of, but not all 12 nutrients a plant needs. If one is too low or missing (even if it's one plants only need small amounts of), our plants can't take in all the other available nutrients, until the one it needs the least of is provided, at the time they need it. That's why a complete fertiliser is so important.
Check the label. GT provides all 12 essential nutrients. As GT are crop-specific, you won't find nickel (for cereal crops like barley and legumes), cobalt (also for legumes like peas), or sodium (for C4 plants like spinach) on the label. Not essential, and known phytotoxins for indoor plants, even in small amounts. All GT formulas are complete and balanced. Providing only what your plants need, and nothing they don't. Guaranteed no sodium.
pH Buffered
Most of our favourite indoor plants come from warm, humid habitats where their substrate pH is naturally more acidic. Soil pH matters. Too acidic or too alkaline and some nutrients become toxic while others like calcium and phosphorus become unavailable. GT is pH buffered to 6 once diluted. Slightly acidic, right where tropical-loving indoor plants prefer, and where nutrients become the most available, helping avoid both deficiencies and toxic levels. All GT formulas are pH buffered.
Chelated Minerals
Pronounced 'key-lay-ted' (like a key unlocking a door). Chelating minerals 'unlocks' the essential metal nutrients such as iron and zinc. Metal nutrients can react in the soil, turning them into solids plants can't use, causing deficiencies even if your fertiliser is complete. Chelation adds organic molecules to protect precious metals, keeping them water-soluble and available to your plants. All metal nutrients in GT are chelated.
Directions for Use
Choose your dose to match your plant's needs...
General maintenance: Use GT at the general maintenance dose of 3mls per 1 litre of water.
Fast growers / heavy feeders: Add 5mls GT (1 teaspoon) per 1 litre water.
To avoid irreversible deficiencies in immobile nutrients (such as calcium), it's recommended to fertilise with GT Focus every time you water.
