I've had my own one of these for my plants for about 3 years now and it's still going strong (and that's without a battery change!). So I was delighted to find the supplier so that you (and your plants), could benefit from one too...
I mainly use mine to monitor conditions in my Ikea cabinet (converted to a mini indoor greenhouse), keeping a close eye on highs and lows for all my fussier temperature-sensitive and high-humidity lovers. However, with 3 ways built-in to mount it (hook, magnets or flip-stand), this essential tool for houseplant hobbyists can easily be moved around your entire collection, or stay put to help create your plant's happy place.
What's included?
Inside the box: The meter, which measures 8.5cms tall x 8.5cms across x 2.5cms wide and 2 x AAA batteries (yes, the batteries are included).
Touchscreen temperature
The touchscreen means you can change from Celsius to Fahrenheit at a touch (super handy when you find a great plant guide but everything's in Fahrenheit).
Highs and lows
Although I mainly use mine to keep an eye on the current conditions for my plants, they also monitor humidity and temperature when I'm not around and give me the highs and lows of the last 24 hours at a glance. They automatically detect humidity and temperature every 15 seconds, updating the lowest and highest recorded humidity and temperature level every hour.
Trending indicator
If levels increase or decrease, the lowest and highest readings update, highlighting any extremes your plants are being exposed to, and the direction of the trending arrow also changes (pointing up, down, or staying parallel), to also indicate the trend over time.
Reading the display
Comfort level
Displayed at the very top is the colour comfort dial indicating the comfort level. LOW is the blue zone, under 30% relative humidity. OK is the green zone, 30% to 50% humidity, and HIGH is the red zone, above 50% humidity, where I like to maintain my plants at. The comfort arrow indicates where within the zone you are right now.
Humidity
Below that in the middle is the current humidity level, displayed as a percent out of 100. On the left is the lowest recorded humidity and on the right the highest recorded humidity, updated hourly.
Temperature
At the bottom middle, displayed either as Celsius or Fahrenheit (you choose), is the current temperature. To the left is the lowest recorded temperature in the previous 24 hours, updated hourly, and on the right the highest temperature detected. Then right at bottom of the display is the C/F touchscreen button that changes the temperature read-out from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
3 ways to attach (built-in)
On the back you'll find a hanging hook insert. The two strong magnets also allow you to attach it to your fridge, cabinet or metal plant stand (provided they are magnetic of course). There's also the built-in flip-stand that pulls out from the back, over the top of the battery compartment, to make it free-standing to use on any flat surface.
What humidity range is measured?
Indoor humidity is measured from 20 to 95 RH (relative humidity), with accuracy to +/- 5% RH.
What is RH (Relative Humidity)?
Relative humidity measures the amount of water vapor content of the air. RH works hand-in-hand with temperature. The warmer the temperature, the drier the air becomes (RH decreases). As the air temperature decreases, air becomes 'wetter' (RH increases).
What temperature range is measured?
The temperature range is 0 to 50 degrees Celsius or 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit with deviation of +/- 1 degree Celsius.
Batteries required
You'll need 2 x AAA alkaline batteries, which come included in the box. When the display dims it's a sign you need to change the batteries. Change both batteries at the same time.
