Why do roses need their own fertiliser?
It's not just us who love roses, pests do too. GT ROSE Focus promotes the growth of healthier more pest-resistant foliage, and supports more prolific, larger, longer-lasting blooms, with more fragrance and more vibrant colours to enjoy. Yes, what you feed your roses really does make that much of a difference.
Unlike the majority of rose fertilisers, GT ROSE Focus provides all 12 essential minerals. Not just Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K), with a handful of trace minerals thrown in at levels too low to list on the label. With GT ROSE Focus you're giving your roses all 12 essentials they need, all at balanced levels, with the complete nutrient profile and guaranteed analysis right there on the label.
Who are GT?
Growth Technology are known in the industry as GT. The clever chaps behind world-famous Clonex (marketed here by Yates). GT have created specialist crop-specific formulas called GT Focus. Although every GT formula is different, there are some things that stay the same...
Calcium
Calcium is essential, yet most fertilisers don't include it. Common signs of calcium deficiency are rose buds that fall off or brown and die before blooming, twisted or deformed new leaves, dull green foliage and foliage with curled-down margins. All GT formulas include calcium, at the higher level roses need, and immediately available. No guesswork needed with supplements. No human foods needed that can attract rot and take ages to break down.
Free of Urea
One of the most common deficiencies in roses is nitrogen, causing uniform, lighter green leaves that progressively turn yellow in old growth first. The most common nitrogen source in fertilisers is urea, however it's more difficult for plants to convert into life-giving nitrogen, increasing the risk of both deficiencies and fertiliser burn. GT Focus is guaranteed urea-free. using nitrate for more immediately available nitrogen, reducing the risk of both deficiency and fertiliser burn.
No Chlorides
Potassium Chloride tops the list for the highest-salt index of all common fertiliser ingredients. High levels can scorch foliage and stunt growth. In roses, this can show as brown or burnt leaf tips or leaf margins, or blotches on the entire leaf surface. All GT formulas are guaranteed free of chlorides, reducing the risk of excess salts building up and causing fertiliser burn.
Complete + Balanced
Most fertilisers provide Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). 'The Big 3' roses need the most of, but not all 12 that roses need. GT provides all 12 essential minerals in the balance needed to support the full rose lifecycle. Formulated for roses also means no nickel (for cereal crops like barley and legumes), no cobalt (for legumes like peas), and no sodium (for C4 plants like spinach). GT ROSE Focus is complete and balanced. Providing everything roses need, and nothing they don't.
pH Buffered
Even if you provide all 12 essential minerals, if the pH is wrong, nutrients can be locked in the soil. The ideal pH for roses is a slightly acidic 6.5. Too alkaline and essentials like iron get locked out, a common deficiency that causes yellowing leaves in roses. The right pH keeps all 12 essential nutrients safe and available. GT Focus is pH buffered to maintain the ideal pH.
Chelated Minerals
Pronounced 'key-lay-ted' (like a key in a door). For roses to utilise the essential metal minerals, they need to be in a water-soluble form. Such as iron for dark, green foliage (a common deficiency that turns rose leaves yellow), Chelating attaches organic molecules to metal minerals, keeping them water-soluble, unlocked and available. GT Focus uses chelated metal minerals to help avoid deficiencies.
Directions for Use
3 to 5mls (1 teaspoon), per 1 litre water. To avoid irreversible deficiencies in immobile nutrients (such as calcium and iron), it's recommended to fertilise with GT ROSE Focus every time you water.
